Course Details
Early years teachers, leaders and support staff will be able to observe a morning of good practice across two Reception classrooms. This will include an observation of phonics (using the Essential Letters and Sound scheme), choosing time with continuous provision plus enhancements, guided reading, and the option of a Maths or English carpet session. Time will be provided for Q+A with the Early Years lead to discuss aspects of the observation and/or other reflections about curriculum, planning and teaching within the Reception context. The session will run from 8:45 until 11:45 am.
What it will include:
An observation of a whole class phonics lesson
An observation of a whole class guided reading (facilitated in groups)
An observation of free choosing (indoors and outdoors), included an adult facilitated group
An observation of a Maths (a mastery approach) or an English carpet session
Opportunities for discussion, questions and answers with the Reception teachers and Early Years Lead.
What you can take home:
Fresh ideas around organisation of your provision, including the environment and adults, to best support children with a wide range of needs across the whole curriculum
