There will be the opportunity to examine how the bar model can support understanding of the four operations and the inverse relationships between them. Linked to this there will also be the chance to explore the bar model as a representation when problem solving and working with fractions.
The course will include:
Exploring the different types of bar models
How to use bar models to support the four operations
How to use bar model to support understanding of fractions
Progression in reasoning and understanding
Review of bar model application in KS1 and KS2 SATS
Exposure to high quality resources
Examples of bar model use in KS1 and KS2
