These three sessions of training gives opportunities to explore and develop teaching approaches in your Foundation Stage classrooms, drawing on the key principles of mastery in mathematics. These days of professional development will develop your subject knowledge and pedagogy. There will be an emphasis on using manipulatives with opportunities to work with pattern and to reason and explain, in order to ensure the best progress for all pupils.

The course will include:

Throughout the first two days we will identify key milestones in order to develop rigorous number sense, focusing on counting, place value and addition and subtraction
Delegates will be encouraged to explore ideas and share practice, which can be applied across a range of settings and con- texts.
The second day will include a filmed lesson observation in a Reception classroom.
The third day will be dedicated to discussion around developing children’s mathematical language, looking at effective provision inside and outside
There will also be an opportunity to look at a range of picture books to use for teaching Mathematics
Delegates will leave with a range of practical approaches to embed these ideas and concepts, which will contribute to outstanding outcomes for all.
