An opportunity to explore and develop teaching approaches in your Foundation Stage and Year 1 classrooms, drawing on the key principles of mastery in mathematics. These three days of professional development will develop your subject knowledge and pedagogy. There will be an emphasis on using manipulatives with opportunities to work with pattern and to reason and explain, in order to ensure the best progress for all pupils.
The course will include:
Throughout the first two days we will identify key milestones in order to develop rigorous number sense.
Delegates will be encouraged to explore ideas and share practice, which can be applied across a range of settings and contexts.
The third day will include a lesson observation followed by a discussion with the teacher and time dedicated to planning.
They will leave with a range of practical approaches to embed these ideas and concepts, which will contribute to outstanding outcomes for all.
