Reception Observation Mornings

Early years teachers, leaders and support staff will be able to observe a morning of good practice across two Reception classrooms. This will include an observation of phonics (using the Essential Letters and Sound scheme), free choosing, guided reading, and the option of a Maths or English carpet session. Time will be provided for Q+A with the Early Years lead to discuss aspects of the observation and/or other reflections about curriculum, planning and teaching within the Reception context. The session will run from 8:45 until 11:45 am.

What it will include:

• An observation of a whole class phonics lesson
• An observation of a whole class guided reading (facilitated in groups)
• An observation of free choosing (indoors and outdoors), included an adult facilitated group
• An observation of a Maths (a mastery approach) or an English carpet session
• Opportunities for discussion, questions and answers with the Reception teachers and Early Years Lead.
