Effective approaches to developing vocabulary KS1-KS2

This course will support classroom teachers and subject leaders in developing the knowledge and understanding of how to maximise vocabulary development across the curriculum.    It will share best practice in vocabulary teaching in a range of subjects and provide opportunities to observe and reflect on filmed lessons.

The course will include:

An exploration of the research and issues surrounding the word gap and vocabulary acquisition
The development of practical strategies and teaching approaches to use across the curriculum
A spot light focus on vocabulary for Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Science and Humanities
A consideration of how whole school approaches can be implemented
A review of implicit and explicit vocabulary development

This course will take place on Zoom and will be 2.5 hours. Modules for self-study will be sent prior to this session.
