Course Details

This course will support teachers in reviewing their subject knowledge and developing their pedagogy in order to deliver effective group and whole class reading routinely.  The course will ensure that teachers understand how best to apply and develop phonic knowledge at the same time as developing other strategies and teaching good comprehension.  It will also tackle the common difficulties of classroom organisation, adult support and independent groups. There will be opportunities to observe and analyse filmed lessons as well as looking at a range of different texts suitable for KS1. Teachers will understand how to run an effective session for all learners at any stage in the age range as well as promoting a love of reading with their children.

The course will include:

Ideas on how to promote a love of reading
