This observation morning is designed for SENDCOs, senior leaders, teachers, and support staff to come together to reflect on effective strategies and provision for pupils with SEND. In light of increasing challenges for schools, including funding constraints, this session will provide an opportunity to observe, discuss, and refine approaches to supporting pupils with SEND at all levels.
Attendees will have the opportunity to observe three tiers of support across a range of lessons and primary phases:
🔹 Universal Support Strategies in the Classroom – Use of visuals, chunking information, repetition, oral rehearsal and scaffolding techniques.
🔹 Targeted Support – In class targeted group support, TA group interventions and adapted SEND resources.
🔹 Specialist Support – Personalised provision, meeting EHCP outcomes and delivering specialist interventions.
The morning will conclude with a Q&A and reflection session, covering:
✅ Insights from observations and key takeaways.
✅ SEND systems, including EHCNA applications and consultation requests.
✅ Current challenges in SEND and how schools are responding.
✅ A review of the interventions on offer and their impact.
This session will provide a valuable opportunity to collaborate, share expertise, and strengthen SEND provision across our schools.
