igh-quality science teaching develops pupils’ curiosity about the world, strengthens their understanding of key scientific concepts and equips them with the knowledge and skills to think and work like scientists. This course will support ECTs in developing the subject knowledge, pedagogical understanding and curriculum expertise required to teach science confidently and effectively across the primary phase.
Participants will develop a secure understanding of the National Curriculum for Science and explore how carefully sequenced learning can build both substantive knowledge and disciplinary knowledge. The course will focus on ensuring that science lessons are ambitious, engaging and accessible to all learners, whilst maintaining a clear focus on progression.
