This course will develop teaching approaches in your Foundation Stage, drawing on the key principles of mastery in mathematics. The course will develop participants’ knowledge and pedagogy, identifying key milestones in children’s number sense and counting.
This course will develop your pedagogical knowledge and teaching approaches with relation to the early composition of number and will have a focus on how to use ‘part-part whole’ as a way of introducing and teaching addition and subtraction and in order to solidify number bond knowledge.
This course will prepare teachers to best support the children to reach the Early Learning Goals in Maths. Teachers will have the opportunity to watch a live Maths lesson in a Reception classroom, as well as observing both adult-led and child-led Mathematical activities and opportunities throughout continuous provision.
Through the live observations and by watching videos of children playing Maths games and activities from earlier on in the year, teachers will leave with a range of practical approaches to embed the key mathematical concepts and ideas.
